Goodbye, Shelley

Shelley Winters is dead. You probably remember her as the biker granny on TV’s Roseanne, but my memories go fondly back to her many guest shots on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. She was loud, opinionated and one of a kind. I will never forget Winters’ honesty, her humor, or her voice. Winters was nominated for four Academy awards and won two of them, for Best Supporting Actress. She was 85.
[On nudity in films:] I think it’s all disgusting. Shameful. And damaging to all things American. But if I were 22 with a great body, it would be artistic, tasteful, patriotic, and a progressive, religious experience.

#2. 2006 has so far been quite a wonderfull experience, so much so that I’ve not had time to write about it.
#3. found “my” truck, when returning from holiday on the side of the road for sale in Pahiatua. Going past I thought it said $1400 so just continued, but something made me turn back to look. As I was looking at it a big truck pulled up and a guy got out of the passenger side, said he was the owner. After a short conversation said he would take $800.00 for it. “Sold to the man” I said. It is an 1974 Datsun one ton truck, and amasingly everthing still works, even the windscreen washer. Still in original colour, Green. Drove it back home about 800 Km, and it goes just as it did in 1974.
