Cookies, anyone?
My friend nakedjen has been baking up a storm:
These cookies are not what you think. You know there’s a story. If only I could hand you one to enjoy while you sit back and read.

Woke up this morning with a migraine again–not sure if it’s something in the air or withdrawal from caffeine. I quit Coke [again] a few days ago. Sugar too, but I cheated and had some orange sherbet yesterday.
It’s probably withdrawal. I hope it is, because I got up and did the shower/change sheets thing in [...]

In the past three weeks, I have gone through a lot of stuff:
1. Went to disability hearing and learned that I was approved.
2. Waited for the money.
3. Roommate moved out without notice.
4. Scrambled to borrow enough to pay rent.
5. Waited for the money.
6. [...]

Called Nassau County, NY–told to call Oyster Bay Town Hall.
Called Oyster Bay Town Hall–they don’t take cc’s or orders over the phone. Must send $10 money order plus prepaid FedEx envelope.
So–my friend Barbara is bringing me some cash today [did I mention that I'm broke?] and I will go to the PO and send off [...]

I can’t tell you how many times I have run across Robby’s birth certificate in the last few months. Really, I can’t tell you because I don’t know. But I do know that I’ve seen it more then once, and now that I need it, where the hell is it? I can’t find it. I’ve [...]

You must read and read, and learn to read as writers read, understanding what the writer is doing–just as a would-be stand-up comic (to take a simple example) not only may laugh at the jokes s/he hears but also takes note of how the jokes are constructed, why they work, and how they are delivered. [...]

7:08 am — Yoga/meditation: 20 minutes
It’s cool and foggy, a nice start to the day. In San Diego, morning sunshine means heat later in the day, and I’m not fond of heat. I just might buy an air conditioner after all, when the money comes [two weeks? four weeks? who knows when?] So many things [...]

I think I’m going to start giving out awards for great blog quotes, starting with this one. It’s a classic:
For nine months I grew a human being inside my belly and then I pushed it out my vagina and now I?m feeding it with my boob. Biology is so fucking weird.

2000 down, ‘01, ‘02 and ‘03 to go… [so far, NOT so good on the tax-owing front, though--I'm in the hole about $8k] …
Rhonda’s new roommates just picked up the last of her stuff…
And Mr. and Mrs. Diesel Dan [owners of the twin antique Mercedes Benz's that have made life miserable as they left for [...]

The Day My World Changed
It was back in the early 90s when there were lots of stories in the media about “bubble people”–remember them? In 1976, there had been a TV movie called, The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (based on a true story) starring John Travolta, and now the media had suddenly discovered whole [...]

I’ve always had a problem with having other people around. It’s hard for me to think. I don’t know how else to say it.
I flatter myself and say I’m too empathic, but the reality is that I’m severely affected by Attention Deficit Disorder. I even have a doctor’s letter to prove it. Part of [...]

I am about to get my long-dreamed-of wish: my roommate is moving out, a little sooner than planned. I was really hoping we could part with the friendship intact but I don’t see that happening now.
The red flag was there very early in our roommateship, when she said in an offhand sort of way, “When [...]
