Mad Cat Disease?

Mad Cow Disease has definitely, by the government’s own admission, entered the pet food supply and there are no regulations that even require monitoring its spread, much less try to minimize it. While dogs may or may not be susceptible (some studies have shown that they are, but the official line is still that more research needs to be done before we can be sure) no one argues about cats: they have definitively been proven to be at risk.
The conclusion is therefore simple and inescapable: it is virtually inevitable that a major epidemic of Mad Cow Disease among our cats and, possibly, dogs looms on the horizon. Yet not a single word of warning has been breathed by the pet food industry, the government, or the mainstream media.
How surprising should we find this?
