Headache city

In: Toxic Times

25 Oct 2003

I’ve had a migraine almost every day for the past two weeks–maybe three, I can’t remember now. I’ve tried everything I could think of: Imitrex, Excedrin Migraine, Vicodin, compulsive laundering and showering to wash the fragrance/chems out of clothes/bedding and off of me. I don’t know what else to do. Wait–yes I do: I need to clear everything out of this room except the bed, get rid of all the junk that’s offgassing formaldehyde and who knows what else, cover the carpet with denny foil, wash the walls, and basically turn this room into a “safe room” where I can retreat when the world is making me sick.

Yeah, like I have the energy for that.

    Lavonne,

Sorry you are having so much trouble with MCS. Have you tried wearing masks? I wear them a lot for my allergies. They are a huge help for me. Best ones I’ve found are from “icanbreathe.com”. The woman that makes them has MCS. Check it out and hopefully her masks might help you. Would love to hear that you are feeling better.

Funny you should mention that. I actually do have two of the I Can Breathe masks, though I find the filters more helpful than the actual masks. I got a bunch of them when I bought the masks, which don’t keep a very good seal to the face, so the “bad” air keeps getting in. So I use a surgical mask over the filter, and that helps. It’s not a perfect solution, though, and it’s practically impossible to sleep in a mask without losing the seal. Actually, 3M makes some good, cheap paint masks that work much better, but they’re very uncomfortable.

What I really need is a new air purifier for this apartment. My old one is too contaminated to use any more.

About this blog

I'm not really famous. In case you were wondering. But I tried. I once believed that fame makes you real - a perversion of "The Velveteen Rabbit" theme that love makes you real. Guess I equated fame with love. Sad. You can read more about that here.
