just then, a bird began to sing the most beautiful music. but it was midnight. birds don’t sing at [...]

Fear and loathing in San Diego

What is it that makes some people think that torture is funny? I never could understand that. My uncles used to think that tickling me until I peed my pants was hilarious. By the time my first husband started digging his fingers into my ribs, I learned to stop laughing by simply hating him.
Liz’s experience [...]

My son, the writer, has outdone himself with an uber awesome story. Enjoy.
The Best Story. Evar.
by Robby
Ok, so this is like, a story, right? Right. In this story, there are like 3 people. But not just the 3, because there might be 4, possibly 5. Because like, I haven’t thought this all out yet. It’s [...]

Frankly, I had given up. I didn’t think I would ever get this domain out of limbo. Some people have more domains than you can shake a stick at. I can understand that; it’s fun. I’ve had a few myself, but the problem always came down to content. What do you put under that lovely, [...]

Then you start all over again. Most beginning meditators don’t get past two before they have to start again. I’ve never gotten past three. I get so frustrated that [...]

Sugar consumption yesterday: 5 Hot Tamales, found in the bottom of my purse; 3 Tootsie Rolls, bought in desperation when I couldn’t find any more Hot Tamales.
So it could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse. I think we’re making progress. Today I have no craving for sugar at all.
Let’s [...]

it’s hopeless

I failed again. It’s nothing new; I’m not surprised, just ready to give up and go buy a wagonload of Hershey’s Almond Bars and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Maybe a gallon or two of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream; the brand is unimportant. And a two-liter bottle of Classic Coke to wash it all down, [...]

You would think by now that I would have gotten at least a little stronger in the willpower department, wouldn’t you? No. I am weaker than ever.
For instance, a few entries back–and I am too frigging hungry right now to find it and link to it for your convenience, sorry–I announced my decision to [...]
